About Dariise

I help others unlock a new level of peace and confidence through movement.

Hi, I’m Dariise,

I am a dancer, yogi, and aerialist specializing in mindful movement practices.

My goal is simple: to utilize movement and language to help others find peace and confidence in their life.

I am experienced in several dance styles including Caribbean, Oriental Dance, Hip-Hop, and Latin styles. I have 8 years of aerial experience with pole and aerial sling. My dance style focuses on meditative flow, low flow, and blended movement flows, in which I integrate different styles of movement into accessible combinations.

In addition to being a dancer, I am a linguist.

Through learning and studying multiple languages, I have come to understand that language is more than simple grammar and vocabulary. Language is a universe to be explored. Language is energy that can be harnessed. My framework utilizes language as another form of expression and self-reflection. My methodology of teaching incorporates written journal prompts to allow for self-exploration after movement exploration.

By developing technique, cross referencing different styles of movement, and incorporating breath work, we can essentially come to develop our own movement language that helps us to communicate with our inner selves.

Homage to the Cultures and Subcultures

I have studied the way cultures and societies have graced the earth with their existence, creating dynamic spiritual practices, social rituals, and strong community circles across the globe. While I do not think to appropriate any of these cultural practices from cultures I do not identify with, I do see them as a basis for historical reference in understanding our own place in the world today.

I recognize that these cultures and subcultures have paved the way for us to develop our own movement languages. I pay homage to those that have given me the tools, movement vocabulary, and accessibility to practice this craft. Whether it be Pole Dance or Oriental Dance or West African dance, the cultures in which these styles were developed will always have my respect. Furthermore, I will always be a supporter, defender, and lover of the people who created these art forms.
